This hexagram is a combination of two different trigrams (Li below, Kun above). Li represents brightness, Kun represents obedience; Li symbolizes the sun, Kun symbolizes the earth. The sun sets into the earth, its light dimmed, the future unclear, and circumstances difficult. It is advisable to bide one’s time, nourish potential in obscurity, uphold the right path, remain outwardly simple yet inwardly wise, and hide one’s brilliance to await opportunity.

Career:
In an unfavorable environment, it is advisable to handle dangerous conditions with a calm state of mind, strengthen psychological resilience, and withstand various pressures. Appear gentle and cautious on the surface, while gaining a clear insight into the principles of things in your heart. When it is time to leave, depart resolutely to avoid disasters and get out of danger. Prevent troubles before they occur and persist in striving amid adversity.

Business:
Closely observe market trends and wait for the right moment to act, but must adhere to business ethics. Even in unfavorable situations, dare to move forward boldly—especially by expanding southward, which will bring substantial gains.

Pursuit of Fame:
Keep lofty aspirations in mind, act with diligence and patience, strive amid adversity, and uphold one’s principles. Conceal intelligence without showing off; in chaos, even more so, uphold justice, and hide one’s strengths to avoid drawing attention.

Travel:
It is best not to act immediately. Wait a while longer and make thorough preparations first.

Romance:
Must comprehensively analyze the other person’s situation, not sacrifice the important for the trivial. Focus on major virtues.

Decision-Making:
In a poor state, with difficult circumstances and an unclear future. However, if one can face misfortune calmly, be flexible in advancing or retreating, the prospects will turn bright. In particular, strengthen self-cultivation, endure hardship to fulfill aspirations, remain outwardly unassuming yet inwardly wise—this can turn misfortune into blessing. If one acts cautiously and stays vigilant in all matters, greater achievements will be possible.
