The Nine True Words of Taoism are "Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe, Jie, Zhen, Lie, Qian, Xing".
These nine characters originated from the Taoist classic "Baopuzi" in the Eastern Jin Dynasty in China. It is an important work that combines Taoist internal alchemy cultivation and external alchemy techniques. "Baopuzi" was written by Ge Hong and is divided into two parts: the inner chapters and the outer chapters. The inner chapters mainly talk about Taoist cultivation, and the Nine True Words are exactly from this book. The Nine True Words are also known as the Secret Prayer of the Six Jia. According to the fifth paragraph of "Baopuzi - Inner Chapters Volume 17 - Ascending and Traversing": "Entering famous mountains, on the day of Jiazi Kaimen, hang five-inch pieces of multicolored silk on a large stone, and you will surely get what you seek. It is also said that when entering the mountains, one should know the secret prayer of the Six Jia. The prayer says, 'Those who face soldiers and fight are all arrayed and march forward.' There are nine characters in total. They should always be secretly prayed and can ward off everything. The essential way is not complicated. This is what it means."
The Nine True Words have an important position in Taoism. It is not only a spell but also a secret art used by practitioners to ward off evil spirits and protect themselves. Each character contains profound symbolic meanings, such as the principles of body and mind, energy, the universe, restoration, heart electricity, time and space, five elements, and light. By chanting these characters, practitioners can reach a superpower and mysterious realm. This realm is considered to be able to protect people from all evil. The "Nine True Words" are also known as the Secret Prayer of the Six Jia. The Secret Prayer of the Six Jia implies the Taoist deities "Six Ding and Six Jia". They are divine generals under the seat of the True Martial Emperor and have profound magical powers. They can eliminate ominousness and subdue demons. High-level Taoist priests can use the Six Ding and Six Jia to pray and exorcise evil. These "Nine True Words" are the incantations used to command the "Six Ding and Six Jia".
When practicing the Nine True Words, practitioners usually combine specific mudras (gestures) and meditation to enhance the effect of the spell. The combination of these mudras and spells is considered part of the secret arts of Taoism and military strategists, helping practitioners reach a higher level in spirit and body.
