The Witchcraft 巫术

paulpeng
"Witchcraft" refers to a kind of esoteric technique that attempts to influence or control certain people or things by means of supernatural mysterious forces. In ancient times, female practitioners of such techniques were called "wu" (witches), and male practitioners were called "xi" (wizards). Witchcraft laid the social and cultural foundation for the emergence of Taoist magical arts.

In primitive times, human beings had limited ability to understand and transform nature. Therefore, when facing the ever-changing natural world, they would feel intense fear and awe, believing that there was a supernatural force governing the unpredictable nature. In order to survive, human beings, based on some mysterious and illusory perceptions of nature, created various kinds of "spells" in the hope of embodying and fulfilling certain wishes. Such spells are generally referred to as "witchcraft".

The Essence of Wu Shu

Wu Shu (巫术), or Chinese witchcraft, represents ancient practices that sought to harness supernatural forces to influence people, events, and natural phenomena. Dating back to prehistoric China, these rituals formed the cultural foundation for later Daoist mystical practices.
