Liang Lu was a native of Anding (present-day Jingchuan, Gansu) during the Western Jin Dynasty.
He served as a Cao Yuan (a minor official in charge of administrative affairs) but, feeling that the affairs of the world were as fleeting as floating clouds, he abandoned his official post and became a hermit.
He studied under the True Person of Taiqing, practicing the Silent Worship of the Three Primordials method and taking divine elixirs in combination.
Luofu Mountain Records records that later he traveled around famous mountains, reaching Kuaiji, where he resided in Guanyuan Cave. He selected spiritual objects, cultivated the Great Elixir, and eventually attained the Dao and ascended to immortality.
