The Qionglongshan School, a branch of the Zhengyi Shenxiao School. It was founded by Shi Daoyuan, with Suzhou's Qionglong Mountain and Xuanmiao Temple as its centers.
Jingai Xindeng·Daopu Yuanliu Tu (Golden Cover Heart Lamp・Chart of Daoist Lineage Origins) states: "Shi Liangsheng, styled Tiezhu Daoren (Iron Bamboo Daoist), once received the Preliminary Precepts and the Intermediate Precepts from Wang Kunyang (Wang Changyue). Later, he excelled in magic arts and converted to the Zhengyi Zhenren Mansion, establishing a school named the Gusu Qionglongshan School." Therefore, no separate biography was written for him. His deeds can be found in Xuanmiao Guanzhi (Records of Xuanmiao Temple) and Suzhou Fuzhi (Records of Suzhou Prefecture).
Volume 4 of Gu Yuan's Xuanmiao Guanzhi (Records of Xuanmiao Temple) in the Qing Dynasty records: "Shi Daoyuan, styled Liangsheng, also known as Tiezhu Daoren, was born in Hengtang Township, Wuxian County. He became a Taoist at Chaozhen Temple in his childhood. He met a strange man named Zhang Xinfu, who taught him the secrets of alchemy. At the age of 19, he received the Five Thunder Method from Xu Yanzhen of Longhu Mountain, enabling him to command various gods. He often helped people exorcise evil spirits and cure diseases without seeking profit. Initially, he built a hut on Yaofeng Peak, practicing cultivation day and night. Later, he moved to Qionglong Mountain, where he renovated the former palace of Lord Mao... to its former glory.
In the year of Wuxu during the Shunzhi period (1658), the 53rd Zhenren Zhang Hongren petitioned the court, which granted the title 'Shangzhen Guan' (Upper True Temple) to his residence and awarded Daoyuan the title 'Master of Cultivating the Origin, Embracing Unity, Propagating Teachings, and Transforming'. As a result, he was invited from all directions, and he built over 170 scenic spots and temples, with more than 8,720 statues. When the halls of Xuanmiao Temple in the prefecture were in ruins, Grand Tutor Jin Zhijun invited Daoyuan to manage the temple affairs, and he restored the halls of Sanqing (Three Pure Ones) and Leizun (Thunder Lord)... In his later years, he traveled to Fujian and Guangdong, seeking truth and visiting Daoists, and helped many people. In the year of Bingchen during the Kangxi period (1676), Prince Yu summoned him to preside over rituals in the capital. He begged to return... and passed away in the mountain temple in the year of Wuwu (1678). Daoyuan wrote Yuliutang Yulu (Discourses from the Jade Retention Hall)."
Shi Daoyuan's disciple was Hu Deguo, styled Yunlu, a native of Wujun, who fully inherited Daoyuan's skills. In the 43rd year of the Kangxi period (1704), when there was a severe drought in the Wu region, the government invited him to pray for rain. Deguo ascended the altar to perform the ritual, and heavy rain poured down immediately. After that, his reputation grew even greater. Hu Deguo passed on his teachings to Pan Yuangui, styled Yunzhang, also known as Wu'an, a native of Wujun. He became a Taoist at Xuanmiao Temple and was an outstanding disciple of Hu Deguo, skilled in the Five Thunder Method. After Deguo's death, whenever there were major ritual ceremonies in the Wu region, Pan Yuangui was invited to preside over them. During the Yongzheng period, he was summoned to the capital, stationed at the Great Bright Hall, and served as a seasonal judge for the imperial court. All his prayers met the emperor's satisfaction. Later, he returned south and still resided at Suzhou's Xuanmiao Temple. Pan Yuangui's disciple was Hui Yuanmo (1697–1771), who in turn passed on the teachings to his disciples Zhang Zili (1712–1786) and Shi Shen'an. Yuanmo and Zili also inherited the transmission of Lou Jinyuan's Zhengyi School at the same time.
Shi Shen'an succeeded Zhang Zili as the abbot of Xuanmiao Temple in the 51st year of the Qianlong period (1786) and passed away during the Jiaqing period. The subsequent inheritance is unknown.
