Dongxuan Lingbao Xuanyi Zhenren Shuo Shengsi Lunzhuan Yinyuan Jing (The Scripture of the Xuanyi True Person of the Numinous Treasure of the Cavernous Mystery Discoursing on the Karmic Causes and Conditions of Samsara of Life and Death), the author of which is unknown.

Judging from its content and wording, it was probably composed during the Sui and Tang dynasties.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Taiping Section of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

The scripture is pseudonymously attributed to the Xuanyi True Person, the Master of the Three Heavens, expounding the karmic causes and conditions of life and death to the immortal Yundu. It states that heaven, earth, and humans all transmigrate and generate each other in accordance with karmic conditions; parents, wives, children, brothers, and sisters are not permanent companions, and after death, each will be reborn according to their karmic affinities of good and evil. If people in the world can make offerings to the Three Jewels and yearn for immortality in their hearts, immortals will surely descend to them, and they can ascend to heaven in broad daylight. It also claims that the heavens will select virtuous people to be born as the descendants of those who perform good deeds, so that their parents can obtain blessings; for those who commit evil deeds, the heavens will select unfilial and rebellious people to be born into their families, bringing trouble to their parents. Additionally, it mentions that at the end of the Golden Horse era, when the celestial destiny completes its cycle, and in the year of the Water Dragon, Lord Li (Li Hong) will emerge to govern. In that sage age, the distinctions between life and death, good and evil will be clarified: men and women with kind hearts will encounter the sage and attain deliverance, bringing celebration to their entire families, while evil people will not be compatible with the sage.

This doctrine is derived from Taishang Dongyuan Shenzhou Jing (The Supreme Scripture of the Divine Incantations of the Cavernous Abyss).
