Black Myth: Wukong Gossip: Finally Found Three Suspected Girlfriends of Sun Wukong, and One of Them Even Gave Birth to a Child

I.
It is said that humans are born of human mothers, and demons are born of demon mothers. But whether it is a human or a demon, they all need a mother. Unless this mother comes from the Land of Women and has drunk the water of the Mother and Son River, they also need a father. Moreover, only when the father and mother have love can the child born, whether human or demon, have the possibility of having a perfect life.
So, as the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, the Handsome Monkey King Sun Wukong who made a huge ruckus in Heaven five hundred years ago, does he have a girlfriend?
Indeed, in the world of Journey to the West where gods and demons are everywhere, whether they are immortals, demons, or even humans, all possess the seven emotions and six desires. Even the younger sister of the Jade Emperor couldn't escape the love affair. She gave birth to Erlang Shen, leaving the Jade Emperor in a dilemma, not knowing whether to love or hate her. Not to mention the Marshal Tianpeng, Chang'e, Li Tianwang, the Seven Fairies, and so on.

Demons are the same. The Yellow Robe Demon only loves Princess Baihuaxiu. For her, he even gave up being an immortal and had two half-human, half-demon children. The Golden-Haired howl fell in love at first sight with Lady Jinsheng Palace. However, due to her wearing a stinging garment, he could only vent his desires on the palace maids. The Yellow Lion Demon not only had a special fondness for weapons but also really liked beautiful women. He would go down the mountain to bring one up every once in a while. Even the Green Ox Demon who cultivated under the Supreme Lord Laozi, when he finally got the chance to go on an errand, didn't forget to find some girls for fun:
"Seeing a stone bed, there were several mountain spirits and tree ghosts with powdered faces and rouged cheeks on both sides. They spread out the bedding to serve the old demon, taking off his shoes and unbuttoning his clothes."

II.
In fact, the world of Journey to the West is just like the real world. As long as you are powerful enough, wealthy, and have power, you won't have to worry about not having beautiful women come to you.

So, for the Handsome Monkey King of Huaguo Mountain, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, Sun Wukong, he has also become the most famous Demon King in the demon world, and he has connections in both the underworld and the officialdom!

Although he is short in stature, with a pointed mouth and a monkey-like face, and looks like the Thunder God, on Huaguo Mountain, this is a symbol of beauty. His hairstyle, his clothes, and even his eating movements and sleeping postures will lead the fashion trend. Even a group of female monkeys on Huaguo Mountain will specially study every move of the Handsome Monkey King, hoping that one day they will be favored by the Goddess of Luck.

Even if Sun Wukong has no intentions, there will still be many female monkeys who want to climb into his bed at night, and naturally, there will be many little monkeys born. After all, in theory, all the female monkeys on Huaguo Mountain belong to the Monkey King, and he also has the supreme right to mate freely.

This also explains why in the CCTV version of Journey to the West, Sun Wukong calls that group of monkeys "my children." And after Erlang Shen set Huaguo Mountain on fire, Sun Wukong originally gritted his teeth and wanted to dig up his ancestral grave. But when he saw the remaining more than a thousand monkeys, he suddenly felt relieved. Later, when he met Erlang Shen again, he even affectionately called him big brother.
It is estimated that Erlang Shen showed mercy and protected Sun Wukong's direct descendants among the monkeys, which made him extremely grateful.

But as mentioned before, Sun Wukong is after all the Handsome Monkey King. How could an ordinary monkey be worthy of him? At least, it should be a Demon King level to be a suitable match.
So, which three women can be on the list and become Sun Wukong's suspected girlfriends?

III.
The version of Journey to the West we see now is the version re-integrated by the old master Wu Chengen, who combined various versions passed down, together with mythical stories.
After all, in the Yuan Dynasty Zaju version of Journey to the West, Sun Wukong was described as a lustful monkey. He even robbed a wife named Jiaozi, who was the daughter of the King of the Fire Wheel Golden Tripod Kingdom. Even his making a huge ruckus in Heaven, stealing flat peaches, immortal pills, and fine wine, were all for this wife:
"I stole fairy clothes, fairy hats, flat peaches, and fairy wine in the Heavenly Palace. My wife can enjoy them happily."

Moreover, in the Flaming Mountains and the Land of Women, this version of the monkey still couldn't change his ways. He made moves on the Iron Fan Princess and also fell in love at first sight with the Queen of the Land of Women.

So, following the general idea that adaptation is not random rewriting and storytelling is not nonsense, the old master Wu depicted Sun Wukong as a sexless monkey without lust, deliberately hiding his true monkey nature. But unfortunately, although he tried his best to cover up this fact, in the existing version of Journey to the West, there are still many clues that prove that Sun Wukong also has lust.

For example, on the White Tiger Ridge, when Sun Wukong saw that Tang Monk cared so much about the White Bone Demon, he said that he often transformed into a woman to deceive people in Huaguo Mountain:
"There are those infatuated ones who fall in love with me. I will lure them into the cave and do as I please, either steaming or boiling them for consumption."

Even if Sun Wukong was lying to Tang Monk, it at least proves that he is very clear about love and lust. Otherwise, after transforming into the Bull Demon King, he wouldn't have had a close contact with the Iron Fan Princess:
"The Rakshasa felt a bit tipsy, and her lust was slightly aroused. She rubbed against the Great Sage Sun, touching and caressing... She often raise her feet several times and shook her sleeves several times..."

IV.
Some people say, no, Sun Wukong is a stone monkey and a sexless monkey. He doesn't have that "little stick" at all.
It's really not the case!
Sun Wukong is a male monkey, and all his abilities are normal. Not only did he urinate in the palm of the Tathagata Buddha and in the Sanqing Hall of the Cart Slow Kingdom, and he urinated standing up. He was also once grabbed by his vital parts by a female demon, such as the Rat Demon:
"The demon tripped the Monkey King and made him fall to the ground. She called him 'darling brother' and reached out to grab his..."

Well, without further ado, here are the three suspected girlfriends of Sun Wukong:
Sun Wukong's first suspected girlfriend is the Pearl-Holding Dragon Girl beside Guanyin Bodhisattva, who was also once the Good Fortune Dragon Girl. She is the daughter of the Dragon King of the East Sea.

On the journey to obtain the scriptures, Sun Wukong was tortured to death by the Red Boy. Having no other choice, he went to the South Sea to seek help from Guanyin Bodhisattva. Originally, the Bodhisattva planned to send the Pearl-Holding Dragon Girl to go with him. But then she thought, no, Sun Wukong might abduct the Dragon Girl because she was beautiful.

Pay attention to how Sun Wukong explained it:
"Poor me! Bodhisattva is so suspicious. Since I became a monk, I haven't done such things anymore."

This means that Sun Wukong had done such things before converting to Buddhism. So, could this Pearl-Holding Dragon Girl have had a relationship with Sun Wukong?
It's possible!

Because when Sun Wukong was the Handsome Monkey King in Huaguo Mountain, the only woman who was a suitable match for him was the Dragon Girl of the East Sea:
"This mountain is the ancestral vein of the Ten Continents and the origin of the Three Islands... On the peak, one can often hear the golden rooster crowing, and in the stone caves, one can always see the dragons coming and going..."

After all, in Huaguo Mountain, one can only see chickens or dragons. If you were the Monkey King, which one would you fancy?

V.
Why do we say that the Dragon Girl of the East Sea might have had a relationship with Sun Wukong? The key lies in the attitude of the Dragon King of the East Sea.
Huaguo Mountain is located in the Dongsheng Shenzhou, an island overseas, and the sea surrounding the island is the East Sea. When Sun Wukong went to the Dragon Palace of the East Sea, he went down from the Water Curtain Cave and directly reached the Dragon Palace.

The book records that when Sun Wukong met the Dragon King of the East Sea, the Dragon King was not surprised at all and warmly invited him in:
"When did you attain the Tao, Immortal? What immortal arts did you learn?"

This precisely shows that the Dragon King had met Sun Wukong before, but this was the first time he saw him in the Dragon Palace. More importantly, the Divine Needle for Fixing the Sea was not snatched by Sun Wukong. It was the Dragon Queen and the Dragon Girl who deliberately led Sun Wukong to see it and enthusiastically gave it to him.

"Your Majesty, looking at this sage, he is by no means an ordinary person. That divine precious iron at the bottom of the Tianhe River in our sea treasury has been shining with brilliant light and emitting auspicious air these days. Could it be that it is time for it to appear and meet this sage?"

There is something even more strange. As soon as the Dragon King of the East Sea rang the bell, the Dragon Kings of the other three seas each brought a piece of equipment and also warmly gave them to Sun Wukong, making up a shining set.

Doesn't this look like a gift for meeting Sun Wukong?

If it weren't for the fact that later Sun Wukong made a huge ruckus in the Underworld with the Golden-Hooped Rod, and the Four Dragon Kings were afraid of being implicated, they wouldn't have gone to the Heavenly Court to file a complaint at all.
This is probably also one of the reasons why the Dragon Girl of the East Sea left the East Sea and went to serve Guanyin Bodhisattva:
After all, according to legend, the Dragon Girl of the East Sea was caught for secretly going to the seaside to watch the lanterns and was later saved by Guanyin Bodhisattva.

The reason why the Dragon Girl went to the shore was probably that during the twenty years when Sun Wukong went out to learn skills, the Dragon Girl looked for him everywhere and made a mistake as a result.

And when Sun Wukong came back after learning skills, he rushed to the Dragon Palace. Presumably, in addition to wanting a weapon, he also wanted to see the Dragon Girl.

VI.
Yes, it's really strange for a land animal to go to the water to find a weapon.
It's very much like a poor scholar in ancient times who went to the capital to take the imperial examination. After passing the examination and becoming a successful candidate in the imperial examination, he hurried back to propose to the daughter of a wealthy family. Unfortunately, because Sun Wukong made a huge ruckus in the Underworld, the Four Dragon Kings drew a clear line with him. And the Dragon Girl, in a fit of anger, chose to become a nun and went to serve beside Guanyin Bodhisattva.
Sun Wukong's second suspected girlfriend is the Iron Fan Princess. Yes, you read that right, the one who gave birth to the Red Boy.

Many people on the Internet say that the Bull Demon King is not the father of the Red Boy, and the Supreme Lord Laozi is. This is actually a big mistake. Because from the perspective of probability, Sun Wukong is much more likely to be the father of the Red Boy than the Supreme Lord Laozi.

As mentioned before, in the Yuan Dynasty Zaju version of Journey to the West, Sun Wukong wanted to marry the Iron Fan Princess, and he was even willing to marry into her family. In the existing version of Journey to the West, among the women who had close contact with Sun Wukong, except for the Rat Demon who wanted to grab his "little thing", the only one was the Iron Fan Princess:
"The Great Sage also snuggled up to her... They didn't stop their affectionate words... Half of the golden buttons of her clothes were revealed... She pressed her powdered face against the Monkey King's face and called out, 'Dear...'"

It is said that one should not covet one's friend's wife, especially the wife of his sworn elder brother, the Bull Demon King. Even if Sun Wukong is not a decent person, oh no, not a decent monkey, he shouldn't do such a thing, right?

The only possibility is that Sun Wukong once had feelings for the Iron Fan Princess, and the Bull Demon King marrying the Iron Fan Princess, in a sense, was also cleaning up the mess for his sworn younger brother. Otherwise, the Bull Demon King wouldn't have married the Jade-Faced Fox. Only in this way can all these doubts be explained.
So, where is the evidence?

VII.
To explain the relationship between Sun Wukong and the Iron Fan Princess clearly, we just need to determine the relationship between Sun Wukong and the Red Boy.
And the most crucial evidence that Sun Wukong has a blood relationship with the Red Boy is the Samadhi True Fire. Yes, it is precisely the evidence that everyone is spreading that the Supreme Lord Laozi is the Red Boy's biological father.

In fact, the one who can truly use the Samadhi True Fire is not the Supreme Lord Laozi. The fire in his Eight Trigrams Furnace is just the Civil and Military Fire, not the Samadhi True Fire. Otherwise, later when he saw Sun Wukong, he wouldn't have mentioned that he had consumed a lot of charcoal to refine him before:
"You that monkey, five hundred years ago, you made a huge ruckus in Heaven and stole countless of my immortal pills. The Little Sage Erlang captured you and sent you to the Upper Realm. You were put in my alchemy furnace and refined for forty-nine days. I don't know how much charcoal was used..."

To put it bluntly, the highest temperature of charcoal fire is only about 1000 degrees Celsius. Sun Wukong was transformed from a stone, and it takes at least 1400 degrees Celsius to melt him. This is why the Eight Trigrams Furnace couldn't do anything to Sun Wukong.

And Sun Wukong is the second person mentioned in the original work of Journey to the West who can use the Samadhi True Fire, besides the Red Boy:
"That monkey ate the flat peaches, drank the imperial wine, and stole the immortal pills. My five pots of pills, some raw and some cooked, were all eaten by him. He used the Samadhi Fire to forge them into one piece, so he has a body of diamond and is hard to be injured."

Only when the Red Boy's original body is a stone can it explain why when he spits fire, he won't burn himself. After all, no matter how fire-resistant the flesh body is, it can't resist the Samadhi True Fire. Otherwise, if he spits fire once and burns his mouth, it will be a loss.

More importantly, like Sun Wukong, the Red Boy also has the stone gene and can't grow up. He looks the same as when he was born.

VIII.
This is also why when Sun Wukong first saw the Red Boy, he was quite puzzled and wondered why he was so light:
"He should weigh one jin for each year of his age, so he should weigh seven jin. Why do you weigh less than four jin?"

Some people will say, the Red Boy is only more than three hundred years old, and Sun Wukong just came out from under the Five Elements Mountain when he saw him. Could it be that during the five hundred years he was suppressed, he once came out and had a love crystallization with the Iron Fan Princess?

No!
Because one day in Heaven is equal to one year on Earth. The Iron Fan Princess was pregnant in Heaven. When she was six months pregnant, her belly was already too big to hide, so she came down to the mortal world. 180 days in Heaven is 320 years on Earth. Isn't this exactly five hundred years?

So, the Iron Fan Princess used to work under the Supreme Lord Laozi, and this statement is also adopted in Black Myth: Wukong. When Sun Wukong was the Great Sage Equaling Heaven, he ran around everywhere. Maybe he exchanged flirtatious glances with her and had feelings for each other. Including when the Supreme Lord Laozi refined Sun Wukong later, why was there no fire in the Xun Palace position? Maybe it was the Iron Fan Princess, who was in charge of the fire, letting him off.

Think about it, how many strange things happened when the Red Boy appeared?
First, he clearly came for eating Tang Monk's flesh, but why did he refuse when Tang Monk asked him to ride with him, and also refused when Zhu Bajie wanted to carry him? But he specifically asked Sun Wukong to carry him, and the two of them were acting sneaky behind, and no one knew what they were talking about.

Second, Sun Wukong, such a powerful monkey, was actually injured by the Red Boy's Samadhi True Fire.

Third, the Red Boy was really bold. He actually dared to transform into the appearance of Guanyin Bodhisattva, and when he saw the real Guanyin Bodhisattva, he wasn't worried about his life at all.

Fourth, Guanyin Bodhisattva actually gave her most precious golden headband to the Red Boy, and she did it right in front of Sun Wukong.

IX.
Precisely because of this relationship, when Sun Wukong heard that the Plantain Fan was needed in the Flaming Mountains, instead of going to find the Bull Demon King, he directly went to the Iron Fan Princess. He was even willing to be slashed three times by her, because after all, he had let her down.

The Red Boy probably knew something about his own background to some extent, which is why he distanced himself from the Bull Demon King and settled in Haoshan. Sun Wukong liked to play tricks on the Mountain Gods and the Land Gods. He would often ask them to stretch out their shins and give them a few blows, and as a result, he got the reputation of being someone who liked to beat the elderly. The Red Boy also had the same habit of playing tricks on the Mountain Gods and the Land Gods. When the scripture-collecting team arrived, they were in such a state:
"The Monkey King fought for a while and forced out a group of poor gods. They were all dressed in rags, with their trousers having no crotch and their pants having no hems. They knelt in front of the mountain..."

The Red Boy originally wanted to ask Sun Wukong if he was his real father, so he asked Sun Wukong to carry him on his back to experience the love of a father. Unfortunately, Sun Wukong had a mission at hand and probably didn't allow him to make a fuss. But the more he restrained him, the more rebellious the Red Boy became. If you don't stay and play with me, I'll target your master, Tang Monk. Anyway, if anything goes wrong, you, as the father, will take the blame, even if I transform into Guanyin Bodhisattva.
After all, the Red Boy was his own child, so when they actually fought, Sun Wukong didn't dare to strike hard, and that's why he was injured by the Samadhi True Fire.
Guanyin Bodhisattva probably also guessed this relationship, so she presented the Golden Headband, which was made on the same production line, as a gesture of friendship and recruited the Red Boy into the religious order. Since the arrangement of the Red Boy's "job" didn't get the consent of the Iron Fan Princess, his mother, that's why the Iron Fan Princess made the move of slashing Sun Wukong three times as soon as they met.

So, rather than saying that the Supreme Lord Laozi has a relationship with the Red Boy, it is more reasonable to say that Sun Wukong is his real father.

Only the Bull Demon King was left, hugging the Jade-Faced Fox and sighing...

X.
Sun Wukong's third suspected girlfriend is none other than Guanyin Bodhisattva, who has offered him a helping hand many times!

It should be noted that in the entire Journey to the West, Guanyin Bodhisattva appears the most frequently and bickers with Sun Wukong the most. Sun Wukong would scold her for trying to harm him on purpose and curse that she deserved to be husbandless for life. Guanyin Bodhisattva, on the other hand, would scold Sun Wukong as a "bold rascal" and a "rustic and foolish red-bottomed monkey".

Of course, it is also Sun Wukong who receives the most smiles from Guanyin Bodhisattva:
For example, when Sun Wukong was tricked into wearing the Golden Hoop, when they met again, the Bodhisattva smiled and said, "If I didn't put this on you, you wouldn't listen to my control." Also, when the Black Bear Spirit stole the cassock, Sun Wukong went to hold the Bodhisattva accountable. The Bodhisattva also smiled and said, "It's all because of your talkative mouth, you monkey. I haven't even asked you to compensate for the burned monastery yet." And when the True and False Monkey Kings appeared, Sun Wukong went to the South Sea and cried loudly. The Bodhisattva still smiled and said, "After you obtain the true scriptures, I'll remove the Golden Hoop for you..."
You know, when Guanyin Bodhisattva heard that Sun Wukong was going to join the scripture-collecting team, she was extremely delighted:
"When the Bodhisattva heard this, she was filled with joy..."
"The Bodhisattva happily said again..."

When the Curtain-Raising General, Marshal Tianpeng, and the Little White Dragon joined the scripture-collecting team, the Bodhisattva was never this happy.

Later, the two of them often carried out missions together. For example, when they went to subdue the Black Bear Spirit, they talked and laughed and enjoyed the scenery along the way. When Sun Wukong asked the Bodhisattva to transform into a demon, the Bodhisattva wasn't angry and happily did so. In the end, Sun Wukong even teased her:
"Wonderful, wonderful! Are you a demon Bodhisattva or a Bodhisattva demon?"
The Bodhisattva was also very happy when she heard this and replied to Sun Wukong with a smile, "Monkey, whatever you say I am, that's what I am!"

XI.
Also, when the Four Sages tested their determination to become monks, Sun Wukong recognized Guanyin Bodhisattva at a glance. So when answering whether he would marry into the family, he directly replied:
"I've never known how to do such things since I was a child. Let Bajie stay here."

Think about it, why did he specifically add the sentence that he had never known how to do such things since he was a child?

Could it be that he was afraid of making the Bodhisattva angry?

Of course, Guanyin Bodhisattva was also angry with Sun Wukong sometimes. For example, after the Ginseng Fruit Tree was toppled over, she blamed Sun Wukong for not coming to see her earlier:
"Why didn't you come to see me earlier? Instead, you went to look for help on the island?"

Even when subduing the Red Boy, she also blamed him for not coming to find her earlier:
"Since his Samadhi Fire is so powerful, why did you go to invite the Dragon King instead of coming to invite me?"

Sun Wukong didn't dare to tell the truth directly and quickly made an excuse, saying that he had asked Bajie to invite her. Unexpectedly, Guanyin Bodhisattva spread her hands, tilted her head, and replied:
"Wuneng didn't come."
Even after Sun Wukong became a Buddha later, he told Tang Monk that he should quickly remove the Golden Hoop to avoid being teased by the Bodhisattva all the time.
Of course, when Sun Wukong was really wronged, he would also go to the Bodhisattva to pour out his grievances:
"When the Monkey King saw the Bodhisattva, he bowed down to the ground, and tears welled up in his eyes uncontrollably. He burst into tears."

So, it's really hard to say what the relationship between Sun Wukong and Guanyin Bodhisattva is. One says, "Look, my Dragon Girl is so beautiful. Do you want to abduct her?" The other says, "You bully me in all sorts of ways every day. No wonder you can't find a husband for your whole life."

Of course, the above speculations are all based on the novel Journey to the West and are just some wild guesses. They have nothing to do with real religions. May the Merciful and Compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva not blame me!
