Longhu Mountain holds a significant place in Taoism, boasting an extensive history. Revered as a birthplace of Taoism, it is revered as a sacred site where countless pilgrimages are undertaken each year. Encompassing a vast area of 262 square kilometers, the Longhu Scenic Area boasts 52 scenic spots and features 230 natural and cultural landscapes.
Besides its spiritual importance in Taoism, Longhu Mountain boasts breathtaking and unique landscapes. Characterized by its typical Danxia landform, the area is distinguished by its cliffy scarps adorned with the ubiquitous red terrestrial classic rock, particularly prominent in the Celestial Water Rock Scenic Spot. With 99 peaks, 24 boulders, and 108 natural and artificial attractions, along with over 20 wells, ponds, streams, and waterfalls, the area offers a wealth of natural beauty.
Visitors can immerse themselves in the scenic splendor by embarking on a rafting adventure along the winding Lu Xi River, which meanders westward through the entire Mount Longhu area, connecting sights scattered along its banks. Here, they can marvel at the picturesque landscapes comprising blue skies, white clouds, green water, and red mountains.
Another remarkable feature of Longhu Mountain is its cliff tombs, many of which are situated approximately 50 meters above the water, with some reaching heights exceeding 300 meters. Drifting along the Lu Xi River, visitors can behold cliff tombs dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC) and the Warring States Period (476-221 BC) lining the riverbanks. Due to their vast expanse, considerable quantity, perilous locations, and unique formations, these tombs have earned the prestigious title of "the best natural archaeological museum in China."
