Exploring the Mythical Identity of Marshal Yin Jiao

Marshal Yin, whose name is Jiao, also known as the Commander of the Earth, presides over the celestial stars and terrestrial luminaries, overseeing the auspicious and inauspicious energies. He is the Thunder King, the commander of all heavenly thunderbolts, the chief of the Hundred Solutions of the Grand Marshal of the Year, and the commander-in-chief of celestial thunder.

In Taoist legends he governs the Dispelling of Evil Court of the Earth Bureau. Marshal Yin, as the chief marshal overseeing the sixty Jiazi and the twelve Year Gods, is usually consulted when encountering issues related to countering malevolent influences, settling land disputes, or mitigating the effects of the Grand Marshal of the Year.
