Consisting of one volume, it is included in the Yujue (Jade Commentary) category of the Dongshen Section of the Daozang (Daoist Canon).
This work is alternatively attributed to "Jia Shanxiang as a presentation to the imperial court" (as recorded in Ming Dynasty Bai Yunji’s Daozang Mulu Xiangzhu (Detailed Annotated Catalogue of the Daoist Canon)). The Xuxiu Siku Quanshu Tiyao (Annotated Bibliography of the Revised Complete Library of the Four Treasuries) states: "It is far from certain whether this work was written by Jia Shanxiang."
An Abridged Commentary on Zhuangzi
History of Song·Treatise on Literature and Arts records a one-volume work titled Zhuangzi Miao, attributed to Wen Ruhai; it is also difficult to determine whether it is the same as this text. This work explains the purport of the chapter titles of the Zhuangzi. The existing version in the Daozang only preserves six chapters, namely Tiandi (Heaven and Earth), Tiandao (Way of Heaven), Tianyun (Movement of Heaven), Keyi (Cultivating Intent), Shuojian (Discourse on Swords) and Yufu (The Fisherman).
