Annotations on The Art of War 孙子注解

The thirteen chapters of The Art of War are a renowned military classic of the pre-Qin period, and numerous scholars throughout successive dynasties have written annotations for it.

Ji Tianbao of the Song Dynasty compiled Collected Annotations on The Art of War, which brings together annotations from eleven scholars including Cao Cao, Meng Shi, Li Quan, Du You, Du Mu, Chen Yin, Jia Lin, Mei Yaochen, Wang Xi, He Yanxi and Zhang Yu. It is the best existing annotated version. This book has many editions, all of which contain errors. The Daozang (Daoist Canon) includes Annotations on The Art of War in thirteen volumes in its Taiqing (Supreme Purity) section; it is also one of the ancient editions of the eleven scholars’ annotations on The Art of War and can be used for cross-collation with other versions.
