Arcane Origins' Profound Sequel
It is inscribed "Compiled by Li Jingyuan, a disciple of the True Master".
Details about Li Jingyuan’s life remain unclear. Based on the book’s citations of remarks by Lang Ranzi (Liu Xiyue) of the Northern Song Dynasty, it is presumed that Li Jingyuan lived around the transition period between the Northern and Southern Song dynasties.

Arcane Origins' Profound Sequel
The original text consists of three volumes and is included in the Tai Xuan Section of The Daozang. The book is divided into three chapters, each containing scriptures with corresponding annotations. The first and second chapters expound on the medical theories of zang-fu organs and meridians, correlating the twelve lunar months, twelve symbolic hexagrams, twelve musical temperament notes, twelve directions, twelve zodiac constellations of the ecliptic, and twelve astrological divisions with the zang-fu organs and meridians respectively. The scriptures in the third chapter discuss immortality through medical theories, equating the Neidan technique of "reversing the flow of the Yellow River" with the medical doctrines of zang-fu organs and meridians. The annotations incorporate Confucian teachings such as the relationships between ruler and minister, father and son, as well as the virtues of loyalty, filial piety, benevolence and righteousness. Judging from its content and textual style, this book is presumably related to the Zhenyuan School of Taoism during the transition period between the Song and Jin dynasties.
