Biographies of the Alchemical Masters
Composed by Chen Zhixu in the Yuan Dynasty.
Originally an appendix to Essential Points of the Golden Elixir, it was issued separately as one volume in the edition of The Daozang, included in the Taixuan Section.
This text records brief biographies of sixteen patriarchs of The Quanzhen Dao, aiming to illustrate the transmission lineage of the alchemical teachings of the Zhong-Lü Golden Elixir sect.

Biographies of the Alchemical Masters
Its transmission lineage is as follows:
Donghua Dijun (Eastern Monarch) transmitted to Zhongli Quan;
Zhongli Quan transmitted to Lü Dongbin;
Lü Dongbin transmitted to Liu Haichan and Wang Chongyang;
Liu Haichan transmitted to Dong Ningyang and Zhang Boduan;
Wang Chongyang transmitted to Ma Danyang and the other Seven True Masters of Quanzhen;
Ma Danyang transmitted to Huangfang Gong and Song Defang;
Song Defang transmitted to Li Yu;
Li Yu transmitted to Zhang Mo;
Zhang Mo transmitted to Zhao Youqin;
Zhao Youqin transmitted to Chen Zhixu in the autumn of the Jisi year (1329).
The above transmission lineage serves as important historical material for researching the transmission of the Internal Alchemy Dao during the Tang, Song, Jin and Yuan dynasties.
