Biographies of the Grotto Immortals
Compiled by Jian Suzi of the Southern Dynasties.
It was recorded in the Bibliography of the Sui Shu, as well as the Old Book of Tang and New Book of Tang. The original work, in ten volumes, was lost in the Yuan Dynasty.
Biographies of the Grotto Immortals
A fragmentary version in two volumes is included in the Seven Bamboo Slips of the Cloudy Satchel.This book compiles the life stories of seventy-seven individuals who attained immortality through Internal Alchemy cultivation in Taoism, with a separate biography for each person. It records the deeds of figures such as Xu Fu of the Qin Dynasty, Wang Qiao of the Han Dynasty, Guo Pu of the Jin Dynasty, and Kou Qianzhi of the Northern Wei Dynasty. The latest narratives date back to the period between the Liang and Chen dynasties of the Southern Dynasties.
The work is listed in the Catalogue of Lost Scriptures in the The Daozang.
