It was likely compiled between the Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty.

Celestial Unity’s Scripture of Primordial Longevity

The scripture fictitiously claims that Taiyi Yuanzhen expounded the way of cultivation for protecting life and attaining longevity to various immortals. It states: "Accumulated yang becomes spirit; accumulated yin becomes physical form. Yin and yang, two halves, combine to form the body." It further says: "Those who excel in refined contemplation maintain unblinking inner vision and undimmed inner hearing; they make the desirous become free of desire, and the desireless embrace aspiration. Transforming yin with yang, pacifying the mind with harmony, when the mind is balanced and Qi is tranquil, yin weakens and the spirit becomes upright. When the spirit is upright, essence is concentrated; when essence is concentrated, the illusory shadow fades; when the shadow fades, the physical form is forgotten; when the form is forgotten, the spirit responds freely; when the spirit responds, one merges with universal harmony; when merged with harmony, the pure radiance of heaven can enter, yang Qi transforms independently, the body rises and soars through the void, and all obstacles vanish." This is a method of contemplating the spirit, circulating Qi, sitting in tranquility, and engaging in inner reflection.
