Celestial Worthy's Scripture of Great Pervasion

The author is unknown. Its themes and purport are similar to those of The Scripture of Constant Purity and Tranquility, and it was presumably compiled by Taoist practitioners during the Tang and Song dynasties. Included in the Ben Wen (Original Text) category of The Dongxuan Section in The Daozang, the scripture consists of only over 100 characters, divided into three chapters: Emptiness of Truth, Profound Principles, and Mysterious Subtlety.

The Chapter on Emptiness of Truth discusses the Dao, stating: "It exists before heaven and earth, yet is born without form; it abides after heaven and earth, yet persists without substance. However, that which has no substance never truly persists—hence it is said to be inconceivable."

The Chapter on Profound Principles explores "nature," proclaiming: "Stillness is its nature, and the mind dwells within it; movement is the mind, and nature abides within it. When the mind arises, nature fades; when the mind ceases, nature manifests—like emptiness without form, clear and perfect."

The Chapter on Mysterious Subtlety expounds realizing the Dao and cultivating nature. The scripture declares: "The Great Dao is formless, yet internally embraces existence; true nature is non-action, hence externally no mind arises. Thus, it is as-it-is and natural, vast and boundless. Facing phenomena, one forgets phenomena, not sinking into the demons of the six sense-thieves; abiding in the mundane, one transcends the mundane, not falling into the transformations of myriad conditions. Attain stillness and remain unmoved; attain harmony and never waver. Wisdom illuminates the ten directions, and emptiness transforms into non-action.
