Daozang Jiyao (Essentials of the Taoist Canon)
A Taoist series compiled and block-printed in the capital by Minister Jiang Yuanting during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. It includes 173 Taoist books, all selected from the Zhengtong Taoist Canon of the Ming Dynasty.
As a selected publication of key works from the Taoist Canon, it is named Daozang Jiyao (Essentials of the Taoist Canon).

Subsequently, the book was reprinted and supplemented several times. By the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign period (1906), He Longxiang, Peng Hanran and others carved the fourth edition of Daozang Jiyao at Qingxian An (Green Immortal Nunnery) in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The number of included Taoist books had increased to 287, among which 114 were newly added—all classics not included in the Ming Dynasty Taoist Canon. It is an important document for the study of Taoist doctrines and history in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The entire book is divided into 28 collections according to the 28 Lunar Mansions, totaling more than 200 volumes.
Its classification system is different from that of the Ming Dynasty Taoist Canon and is still inconvenient for modern readers to consult. In 1987, the Institute for Advanced Study of World Religions in the United States published A Guide to Daozang Jiyao compiled by American scholars, which includes various indexes of authors, book titles and contents, providing convenience for the study and consultation of Daozang Jiyao.
