Essential Knowledge for Inner Alchemy
This book is a compendium of Internal Alchemy teachings, divided into seven chapters:
Operating the Fire and Practice,
New Moon, Full Moon, Half Moon and Last Moon,
Guarding against Dangers and Protecting from Loss,
Punishment and Virtue in Mao and You,
Bathing and Purifying the Mind,
Birth and Death in Lines and Weights,
The Seven Matters of True Cultivation.
Each chapter collects sayings from Wei Boyang, Zhongli Quan, Lü Dongbin, Zhang Boduan, Bai Yuchan, Ma Danyang, Zhao Youqin, Chen Zhixu and others, expounding the essential principles of internal alchemy.
Among the quoted works, Chen Zhixu’s Essential Points of the Golden Elixir by Master Shangyang is cited most frequently.
It is suspected to have been compiled by a disciple of Chen Zhixu in the late Yuan Dynasty.
