Gazetteer of Jinhua Chisong Mountain
Chisong Mountain is located in present-day Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. According to legend, Huang Chuqi and Huang Chuping, two Taoist brothers of the Jin Dynasty, met the immortal Chisongzi on this mountain and cultivated the Dao in a stone chamber. They were said to have the divine power to command stones to turn into sheep, draw well water to cure illnesses, and expand space at will. Taoist palaces and abbeys were built on the mountain during the Tang and Song dynasties, and many Taoist Priests came here to practice the Dao.The book opens with a biography of the two Huang Lords, detailing their life stories, which are largely based on Ge Hong's Biographies of the Immortals. It then thematically records the elixir-refining relics, caves, mountains and rivers, palaces and abbeys, notable figures, imperial edicts, stone inscriptions, poems and prose of Jinhua Mountain in classified sections, serving as a valuable source for studying the origin and development of local Taoism in Jinhua.
