Compiled by Chen Xingding, a Taoist priest of the Yuan Dynasty.
Completed in the Wuzhi year of the Zhizheng reign (1348), it has two volumes and is included in the Biographies category of The Dongxuan Section in the Daozang.
Gazetteer of Xiandu Mountain
Xiandu Mountain is located in present-day Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province, and was a renowned Taoist sacred place in ancient times. Taoist palaces and abbeys were built here during the Tang and Song dynasties, and many Taoist priests came to cultivate the Dao here. The author, who served as the abbot of Xiandu Mountain in the Yuan Dynasty, compiled this book to clarify the historical evolution of Taoism in this region.Divided into several categories including Mountains and Rivers, Temples and Halls, Immortals, Virtuous Hermits, Plants and Trees, Stone Inscriptions, and Poems and Odes, the book mostly records events from the Tang and Song dynasties, with the latest records dating to the Yiyou year of the Zhizheng reign (1345). The poems and prose collected from successive dynasties include masterpieces by renowned literati such as Wei Hu, Bai Juyi, Lu Guimeng, Pi Rixiu and Zhu Xi.
