Golden Stanzas of the Seven Stars 北斗七元金玄羽章

Author unknown, presumably compiled between the The Tang Dynasty and the Song Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in the Eulogy category of the The Dongshen Section within The Daozang.

Golden Stanzas of the Seven Stars

This text contains nine four-character eulogistic poems, which extol the seven primordial star officials of the Big Dipper—including Tanslang, Jumeng, Lucun, Wenqu, Lianzhen, Wuqu and Pojun—as well as the two auxiliary star officials Zuo Fu and You Bi respectively. Following the eulogistic chapters, it also records the "True Talismans of the Golden Mysterious Feather Chapters" and the "Secret Formula for Resolving Calamities by Reciting Scriptures", elaborating on the method of contemplating the Big Dipper star officials and reciting the chapters with the use of talismans to dispel misfortunes.

This work is also included in the Commentary category of the Dongshen Section of The Daozang, appended to Fu Dongzhen’s Annotations on the Supreme Mysterious Numinous Big Dipper Scripture of Birth Year and Life Prolongation. There are differences in the detail and conciseness of the text compared with the version collected in the Eulogy category of the Dongshen Section, which should be different editions of the same book.
