Historical Records of Longjiao Mountain
This book compiles stone inscriptions, imperial edicts and prayers related to the Qingtang Guan on Longjiao Mountain from the Tang, Song and Jin dynasties. Originally named Yangjiao Mountain, Longjiao Mountain is located south of Fushan County in Shanxi Province. According to legend, in the second month of the third year of the Wude reign of the Tang Dynasty (620), Ji Shanxing, a native of Quwo, claimed that Laozi appeared to him on Yangjiao Mountain and said: "I am the ancestor of the Tang emperors; tell my descendants that they shall hold the realm forever." Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty then enfeoffed Ji Shanxing as a Chaosan Doctor, and built the Qingtang Guan in Fushan County to enshrine Laozi. The Inscription Commemorating the Sage of Qingtang Guan composed by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, which is included in this book, details this event. The book also contains an imperial edict issued in the 21st year of the Kaiyuan reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, the Epigraph of Qingtang Guan written by Han Wang of the Northern Song Dynasty, as well as sacrificial prayers for rain and snow from the Jin Dynasty.
