Illustrated Anthology of the Siming Cavern Heaven 四明洞天丹山图咏集

Compiled by Zeng Jian, Wei Su and others in the Yuan Dynasty. The book was completed during the Zhizheng reign period (1341~1368).

One volume in total, it is included in the Biographies category of the The Dongxuan Section in the Daozang.

Illustrated Anthology of the Siming Cavern Heaven

Siming Mountain is located in present-day Yuyao County, Zhejiang Province, known as the "Grotto Heaven of Cinnabar Mountain and Red Water". According to legend, Liu Gang, a hermit of the Eastern Wu period, and Kong You, a hermit of the Southern Dynasties, cultivated the The Dao here and attained immortality. Since the Tang and Song dynasties, numerous Taoist palaces and abbeys have been built on the mountain, and many literati and distinguished scholars came here to compose poems and odes in its praise. Mao Yongzhen, a Taoist Priest of the Yuan Dynasty, renovated and expanded the Taoist palaces and abbeys, and compiled poems and prose from past dynasties. His disciple Xue Yifu took this collection to the imperial capital and entrusted Zeng Jian and Wei Su to compile it into this book.

The book includes works such as Preface by Mu Xuanxu of the Tang Dynasty, Picture of Siming Mountain, Eulogy to the Biography of Lord Liu, Magistrate of Shangyu in the Wu Period, Eulogy to the Biography of Mr. Kong of the Song Dynasty, as well as Epigraph of Siming Mountain and Record of Baishui Abbey by Wei Su. These works respectively narrate the mountains, rivers and scenic spots of Siming Mountain, the deeds of Taoist practitioners of all dynasties, and the historical evolution of the mountain's palaces and abbeys. It also contains Preface to the Poems of Shitian Mountain Studio compiled by Zeng Jian, and more than one hundred poems and odes composed by distinguished scholars of the Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties. The Poem Preface records the life deeds of Mao Yongzhen and Xue Yifu, stating that Shitian Mountain Studio was the place where Mao Yongzhen cultivated the the Dao.
