Lingbao Compendium of Alchemical Methods 灵宝众真丹诀

The author and the era of compilation are unknown.

It consists of one volume and is included in the Jade Instructions category of the Dongxuan Section of The Daozang.

The book records eight methods of external elixir alchemy, namely the Resurrection Elixir Method, the Purple-Gold Cinnabar Method, the Golden-Green Cinnabar Transmutation into Golden Millet Seeds Method, the Ascension River Chariot Method, the Golden Flower Yellow Sprout Method, the Jigong White Elixir Method, the Nine-Cycle Lead Refining Method, and the Divine Transmutation Golden Elixir Method. Each method lists the medicinal ingredients, refining procedures, administration methods and efficacies. The medicinal materials used are mostly mineral medicines such as lead, mercury, realgar and alum, with some also incorporating herbal medicines. The elixir refining system recorded in this book is an important part of Taoism practices, and the selection and compatibility of its mineral and herbal ingredients conform to the theoretical framework of the five elements in traditional Chinese philosophy.
