Manual of the Yin Elixir
With fewer than seven hundred characters, this text expounds the secret formulas of the Yin Elixir, whose alchemical method centers on the essential principle of gathering yin and refining yang. The ingredients employed are the Purple Palace Red Lead, Jade Peak Jade Nectar, and Cinnabar Vessel Flaming Radiance—these three substances are measured in jin and liang, and smelted with gentle and fierce fire. It states: "Gather mercury with lead, gather spirit with mercury, guard the physical form with spirit, guide the ingredients with Qi (Vital Energy), extend years with the ingredients, and refine the physical form through the passage of years." The meaning of the text as a whole is profoundly obscure.
