The book compiles fifteen qi cultivation methods, as follows: Outline of Cultivation and Nurturing, Qi Cultivation Method of Mr. Zhang Guo, Qi Cultivation Method of Master Luan, Qi Cultivation Method of Hermit Li Fengshi, Qi Cultivation Method of the Worthy One from Mengshan Mountain, New Qi Cultivation Method of Hermit Wang Shuo, Secret Formula for Qi Utilization by the Great Dignified Mr. Xuansu (True Person of Black and White), Oral Formula of Embryonic Breathing, Subtle Treatise on Embryonic Breathing, Miscellaneous Formulas of Embryonic Breathing, Secret Essential Oral Formula, Secret Formula for Concentrating Spirit Through Qi Utilization, Method of Tempering Qi, Method of Surrendering Qi, and Method of Holding Qi.
The first thirteen methods are all recorded in Volumes 58, 59, and 61 of Yunji Qiqian (Seven Bamboo Slips of the Cloudy Satchel). This work collects various techniques of embryonic breathing and qi cultivation, most of which were composed by scholars of the Tang Dynasty.
