Prognostications of the Five Planets 太上洞神五星赞

Originally attributed to Zhang Pingzi (Zhang Heng of the Eastern Han Dynasty), it is suspected to be a pseudonymous work by Taoist priests of the Northern and Southern Dynasties or the Sui and Tang dynasties.

It is a single volume included in the Eulogy category of The Dongshen Section within The Daozang.

Prognostications of the Five Planets

This text is a work of astronomical astrology, which observes the movements of the five planets—Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Venus, and Saturn—among the Twenty-Eight Mansions to divine calamities, auspicious omens, good and bad fortune. It also elaborates on methods to avert disasters, including almsgiving, cultivating virtue, holding Taoist rituals, and reciting the Golden Slips and Jade Scriptures, which are said to turn misfortune into good luck. The title Eulogies to the Five Planets is believed to be a miswriting of Divination of the Five Planets, associated with the theory of the Five Elements.
