Purple Tenuity Seven Stars True Scripture
This scripture contains seven incantations spoken by the Perfect Ones of the Seven Primitives. It is said that reciting these incantations can bring long life and perpetual sight, eliminate disasters and resolve afflictions, summon the divine and subdue demons.
In the Qun character cluster of the Zhengyi Section of Daozang, there are seven scriptures included:
Scripture of the Northern Emperor Proclaiming the Liberated Seven Primitives,
Secret Scripture of the Perfect Formulas of the Seven Primitives for Expelling and Servicing,
Scripture of the Starry Wheel of the Seven Primitives for Summoning Demons,
Scripture of the Origin Proclaiming Deliverance from Fengdu,
Scripture of the Divine Incantations for Summoning Demons and Subduing the Gods of the Six Heavens by the Seven Primitives,
Scripture of the Divine and True Numinous Talismans Spoken by the Seven Primal Perfect Ones,
True Scripture of the Seven Primitives of the Purple Luminary in the Middle Heaven.
Most of these seven scriptures are attributed to the Perfect Ones of the Northern Emperor and the Seven Primitives. Their contents all concern methods for eliminating disasters, subduing demons, prolonging life and preserving life.
The Daoist practices described mainly include establishing rituals and lighting lamps, preserving the gods and reciting incantations, wearing and holding talismans and diagrams. Judging from their content and language, these seven texts should be a group of scriptures transmitted at the same time, compiled around the late Northern and Southern Dynasties or the Sui and Tang dynasties.
