Sacred Annals of Wangwu Mountain
One volume, included in the Biographies category of The Dongshen Section in the Daozang. This book collects stele inscriptions, poems and prose concerning Wangwu Mountain from the Tang, Song and Yuan dynasties. Wangwu Mountain, located in northern Henan, is one of the Ten Great Grotto Heavens of Taoism. According to legend, the Yellow Emperor prayed to the Heavenly Emperor here; the Heavenly Emperor then ordered the Queen Mother of the West to descend to Tiantai Peak, the main peak of Wangwu Mountain, and bestowed scriptures upon the Yellow Emperor, who thereafter defeated Chiyou. During the Western Jin Dynasty, the immortal Wang Bao transmitted the Shangqing scriptures to Lady Wei of the Southern Yue at Qingxu Abbey on this mountain. Sima Chengzhen, a renowned Taoist of the Tang Shangqing School, also cultivated the Dao here for many years and served as the teacher of Princess Yuzhen, daughter of Emperor Ruizong of the Tang Dynasty.
The book includes Sacred Traces of Tiantai on Wangwu Mountain by Du Guangting of the Tang Dynasty, which recounts the above Taoist myths and historical sites. It also contains poems and prose by Emperor Ruizong, Du Fu, the Song Taoist Master Lin, Master Tongzhen, and the Yuan scholar Du Renjie. The book concludes with Record of the Bestowed Jade Heavenly Lord written by Chen Daofu in the second year of the Zhida reign of the Yuan Dynasty (1309).
