Shangqing Consecration of Empress Zhangxian
Zhu Ziying was the 23rd Patriarch of the Shangqing School of Maoshan. He once prayed for an heir for Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty, and the crown prince (Emperor Renzong) was born accordingly. He was favored by two emperors. In the early Tiansheng reign, he was summoned to the capital to transmit the Shangqing talismans and rites to Empress Dowager Liu (Empress Mingsu), the mother of Emperor Renzong. This text records this event and details the actual ceremony in which the Empress received the Shangqing talismans and rites. It was composed in the fourth month of the second year of the Tiansheng reign (1024).
