Shangqing Practice Guide
The text consists of two parts:
- Cultivation and Tempering Secrets for Superior Practitioners: Details Qi -tempering techniques such as gargling and swallowing saliva, as well as regulated inhalation and exhalation.
- The Heavenly Elder’s Scripture of the Ten Heavenly Stems: The Ten-Month Cultivation Method: Describes the physiological reactions of grain abstinence and qi absorption, along with qi circulation practices. The content of this part is essentially identical to The Twelve-Month Qi Cultivation Method recorded in Volume 61 of Yunji Qiqian (Seven Bamboo Slips of the Cloudy Satchel).
