It is recorded as a forty-volume work in the Bibliography of General Records.
Supplement to Biographies of Immortals
The original text has been lost; a five-volume reconstructed version compiled by the modern scholar Yan Yiping is included in the first volume of Research Materials on Taoist Talismans and Taoism. This book compiles the life stories of those who attained immortality through cultivation from ancient times to the Tang Dynasty, with ninety-nine figures preserved in the existing version. Some accounts of Tang Dynasty Taoist priests recorded herein cannot be found in surviving Taoist biographies, and the content also involves the worship culture of the Three Pure Ones in traditional Taoism.
The work is listed in the Catalogue of Lost Scriptures in the The Daozang.
