Supreme Purple Tenuity Seven Stars True Scripture
This scripture contains seven incantations taught by the Perfect Ones of the Seven Primes. It is said that reciting these incantations can bring longevity and perpetual vitality, dispel disasters and avert tribulations, summon the true divine and subdue demons. Seven scriptures are included under the Qun character series of the Zhengyi Section in the Daozang, namely The Scripture of the Northern Emperor Proclaiming the Unfettered Seven Primes, The Secret Scripture of the True Formulas of the Seven Primes for Summoning and Commanding Spirits, The Scripture of the Starry Dipper of the Seven Primes for Summoning Demons, The Scripture of the Primordial Lord Proclaiming Deliverance from Fengdu, The Scripture of the Divine Incantations for the Seven Primes to Summon Demons and Subdue the Gods of the Six Heavens, The Scripture of the Divine and True Numinous Talismans Spoken by the Perfect Ones of the Seven Primes, and The True Scripture of the Seven Primes of the Purple Luminary in the Middle Heaven of the Supreme Lord.
Most of these seven scriptures are attributed to the Northern Emperor and the Perfect Ones of the Seven Primes, all expounding methods for eliminating disasters, subduing demons, prolonging life and preserving one's being. The Taoist practices described mainly consist of establishing sacrificial altars and lighting lamps, contemplating the divine and reciting incantations, and wearing and holding Taoist Talismans and sacred diagrams. Judging from their content and wording, these seven scriptures should be a set of texts circulated in the same period, compiled around the late Northern and Southern Dynasties or the Sui and Tang dynasties.
