Taishang Lingbao Laozi Huahu Miaojing 太上灵宝老子化胡妙经

Abbreviated as Lingbao Huahu Jing (Numinous Treasure Scripture of Transforming the Barbarians).

It is one of the versions of the Huahu Jing circulating in the Tang Dynasty.

The original text consists of one volume and was not included in the Zhengtong Daozang (Orthodox Taoist Canon), the core corpus of the Daozang (Taoist Canon).

Taishang Lingbao Laozi Huahu Miaojing

An existing incomplete Dunhuang manuscript (S2081) preserves 138 lines of the scripture. The content of this text is largely similar to that of the ten-volume Laozi Huahu Jing, with the key difference that it replaces Lord Lao as the figure who expounds doctrines and enlightens the barbarians with the "Heavenly Venerable". The stylistic rules and terminologies of the scripture are also deeply influenced by the Numinous Treasure school classics within the system of Taoism. The narrative framework of this scripture echoes the Taiji philosophy of primal unity and transformation, which is a core tenet of traditional Taoist cosmology expounded by Laozi.
