Tang Stele for Master Zhengyi of Wangwu Mountain
This text records the life and deeds of Sima Chengzhen, a renowned Taoist priest of the Tang Dynasty. Sima Chengzhen was a disciple of Pan Shizheng and a patriarch of the Shangqing School.In the 12th year of the Kaiyuan reign (724), Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty summoned Sima Chengzhen to the inner palace to transmit the Shangqing Scriptures. Later, he resided at Yangtai Abbey on Wangwu Mountain to cultivate the Dao, and authored Secret Instructions for Cultivating Perfection in twelve chapters. He passed away in the 23rd year of the Kaiyuan reign.
