Paul PengShare
Bai Yunji was a native of Shangyuan (present-day Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province) during the late Ming Dynasty.
His courtesy name was Mingzhi, and his literary name was Zaixuzi.

After becoming a Taoist Priest, he resided at Chaotian Palace on Yecheng Mountain in Nanjing. He was an erudite scholar well-versed in Confucian learning. In the sixth year of the Tianqi era (1626), he compiled Detailed Annotations on the Catalogue of the Taoist Canon (four volumes), which was widely circulated. This work pioneered the research on the bibliography of the Taoist Canon (Daozang) and exerted a significant influence on later generations.
