Biographies and Records Category

It is the tenth category among the Twelve Categories in the Taoist scripture classification system. Taoist Doctrine Essentials·Meaning of the Twelve Parts interprets "Ji" (record) as chronicling and "Zhuan" (biography) as passing down, referring to documenting one's original deeds and conveying them to later generations.
Thus, it states: "Biographies and records include examples such as the original deeds of Taoist lords and the daily life of emperors and nobles."

Works in this category are mostly biographies of immortals, inscriptions on steles, and chronicles of mountains, rivers, and Taoist temples.
