Judging from the textual content, it was presumably compiled by Taoist priests of Wudang Mountain during the reign of Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty.

Consisting of one scroll, it is included in The Daozang (Taoist Canon), under the Ritual Category of the Dongxuan Section.

The book compiles five types of libation offering rituals and sacrificial texts, namely: the Ritual of Libation Offerings for the Birthday of the Jade Emperor on the 9th day of the 1st lunar month, the Ritual of Libation Offerings for the Birthday of Celestial Master Patriarch Zhang Ling on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, the Sacrificial Text for the Birthday of Supreme Lord Laozi, the Taoist Ancestor, on the 15th day of the 2nd lunar month, the Sacrificial Text for the Birthday of Xuanwu Emperor on the 3rd day of the 3rd lunar month, and the Sacrificial Text for the Ascensions of Celestial Master Patriarch Zhang Ling and Xuanwu Emperor on the 9th day of the 9th lunar month. The libation offering ritual includes procedures such as proclaiming intentions, reading memorials, presenting three offerings, reciting scriptures, and dedicating merits. The content of the sacrificial texts is to eulogize the sacred virtues and divine merits of various masters, expressing sincere devotion and reverence through the offerings.
