The Bu Daojian 卜道坚

The Bu Daojian 卜道坚

Paul Peng
Bu Daojian (1132-1206) was a female Taoist priest of the Jin Dynasty, hailing from Fangshan County in Jingzhao Prefecture (now part of Beijing Municipality).

She became a Taoist nun at an early age and upheld the Taoist ordination certificates of the Supreme Orthodox Oneness Tradition (Taishang Zhengyi Tradition).
She was skilled in expelling evil spirits and curing illnesses, and all those who sought her help were answered (i.e., her treatments were always effective).

Later, she was invited to take charge of ritual altars and treat illnesses at the Dongyue Temple in Fangshan County, a role she held for many years.

In the sixth year of the Taihe era (1206), she passed away peacefully without illness at the age of seventy-four.
