Catalog of Lost Taoist Canon Scriptures

Author unknown.

It consists of one volume and is included in the Zhengyi Section of the Taoist Canon (Daozang).

According to textual research by modern scholar Chen Yuan, this book is a catalog of Taoist scriptures that were missing from the Taoist Canon printed during the Zhengtong reign period of the Ming Dynasty, compared with the Taoist Canon of the Yuan Dynasty.

The book records a total of 786 lost scriptures, but some of these Taoist texts were not actually lost.

At the end of the book, there is an attached article titled Comprehensive Outline of the Respected Scriptures in the Taoist Canon Through Dynasties, engraved in the 12th year of the Zhiyuan reign period of the Yuan Dynasty (1275). It outlines the "Three Grottoes and Four Assistants" classification method and the number of volumes of the respected scriptures in the Taoist Canon compiled by Taoist priests of successive dynasties, from Lu Xiujing in the Southern Dynasties to Song Defang in the early Yuan Dynasty.

This book has reference value for the study of the compilation history of the Taoist Canon.
