Catalogue of the Scripture of Great Peace

This text is a Taoist manuscript from Dunhuang (No. S4226). The original manuscript is incomplete at the beginning but intact at the end, with the title "Volume 2 of the Great Peace Section".

Its content consists of three parts: a preface, the table of contents of The Scripture of Great Peace, and a postscript. The preface exhorts people to recite The Scripture of Great Peace and practice the way of great peace, and also narrates the story of Laozi passing The Scripture of Great Peace to Yu Ji, and Gong Chong presenting the scripture to the imperial palace.

The postscript records the personal name and deeds of the Supreme Mysterious Primordial Emperor of the Golden Tower in Shangqing (also known as the Holy Lord of Great Peace).

The main text details the catalogue of the 170-volume, 366-chapter The Scripture of Great Peace (five chapters are missing from the transcription).

This catalogue is more complete than the table of contents of the existing The Scripture of Great Peace in Daozang (the Taoist Canon), thus it has been highly valued by Taoist scholars both at home and abroad.
