The Celestial Patroness Scripture

The Celestial Patroness Scripture 碧霞元君护国庇民普济保生真经

Paul Peng

The Celestial Patroness Scripture FULL NAME IS

The True Scripture of the Goddess Bixia Yuanjun for Protecting the Nation, Safeguarding the People, Universally Relieving Suffering and Preserving Lives

Author unknown, probably compiled during the Ming Dynasty.

It consists of one scroll and is included in the Supplementary Daoist Canon.

The scripture fictitiously depicts the Primordial Lord of Heaven expounding the Dao, claiming that the birth and transformation of all beings in the world are governed by the Goddess Bixia Yuanjun. Also known as the Jade Maiden of Mount Tai, she has attained the status of Heavenly Immortal. Entrusted by the Jade Emperor, she commands the divine troops of the Mount Tai Palace, oversees the good and evil deeds of mortal beings, bestows blessings on the virtuous and metes out punishment on the wicked, with retribution unfailing and exact. If mortals repent and turn to the Dao, invite Taoist priests to recite this scripture on their behalf, pledge allegiance to the Goddess, and repent with sincere prayers, they shall be freed from disasters and granted blessings.

Appended at the end of the text is The Imperial Edict of the Heavenly Immortal Bixia.
