Chen Huidu (?–484)
Chen Huidu was a native of Yingchuan (now part of Henan Province) during the Liu Song and Southern Qi dynasties of the Southern Dynasties period.
He practiced Taoism and refined alchemical elixirs at Yuqing Guan (Yuqing Temple) on Nanyue (the Southern Mountain, one of China’s Five Great Mountains). According to Comprehensive Mirror of Perfected Immortals and Practitioners of the Dao (Volume 33), it was said that he was tested by mountain spirits. Despite having his alchemical furnaces destroyed three times, his resolve to pursue Taoism and alchemy only grew stronger.

He passed away in the second year of the Yongming era of the Southern Qi Dynasty (484).
In the first year of the Chonghe era of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty (1118), he was posthumously awarded the title "Perfected One of Void-Subtleness and Primordial Wonder."
