The Chen Shandao 陈善道

Chen Shandao was a native of Nanchang, Jiangxi during the Jiajing reign period of the Ming Dynasty.

His literary name was Shiquan, and he was a Taoist priest at Xianyuan Palace on Longhu Mountain in Jiangxi.

During the Jiajing reign period, he followed Shao Yuanjie to the imperial court for an audience with the emperor. He was officially appointed as "Zuozhengyi" (a mid-ranking official in the Daolu Division, the national agency managing Taoist affairs). Soon after, he was further conferred the title "Qingwei Yanjiao Chongzhen Weidao Gaoshi" (a senior Taoist honorific recognizing his role in promoting Taoist teachings, upholding true Taoism, and defending Taoist doctrines) and took charge of the administrative affairs of the Daolu Division.

After Shao Yuanjie passed away, Chen Shandao was granted Taihe Mansion as his residence, awarded the official robes of the first rank, and concurrently served as the abbot of three Taoist temples: Chaotian Palace, Xianling Palace, and Lingji Palace.
