The Chen Xingming 陈兴明

Chen Xingming (?–265), a native of Yingchuan (present-day Yuxian County, Henan), lived during the Wei and Jin dynasties. Lishi Zhenxian Tidao Tongjian (Comprehensive Mirror of True Immortals Through the Ages Who Embodied the Dao), Volume 33, records that in his early years, he traveled to famous mountains to seek traces of immortals. At Tianzhu Peak of Mount Heng (the Southern Sacred Mountain), he encountered two true immortals, who imparted to him the Dao of the Bright Mirror and Mysterious Truth.

After eighteen years of cultivation, he attained perfection in the Dao. In the first year of the Taishi era of the Jin Dynasty (265; alternatively said to be the first year of the Taikang era of Emperor Wu of Jin), he ascended to immortality at Yuanyang Palace. In the first year of the Chonghe era of the Song Dynasty (1118), Emperor Huizong bestowed upon him the title "Zhi Xu Ning Jing Zhen Ren" (True Person of Utmost Emptiness and Tranquility).
