Chen Zide was a native of Zhuquan, Fujian during the Ming Dynasty.

He had a strong passion for Taoist doctrines and arts, and had no desire to pursue an official career. He extensively studied works of the Hundred Schools of Thought, classics and historical records, as well as Taoist scriptures about immortals, and never forgot what he had learned.

He traveled across rivers and lakes, and visited famous masters and Taoist companions everywhere. Since then, he became proficient in astronomy, geography, military strategy, divination, medicine, and physiognomy—there was nothing he did not understand. He claimed that those who practiced Waidan (External Alchemy) must first have a thorough understanding of Neidan (Internal Alchemy).

He authored several works, including Huangbai Zhizhi (Direct Instructions on Huangbai Alchemy), Qiangong Aozhi (Profound Principles of Lead and Mercury), and Qinhuo Chongguang (The Reillumination of Qin Fire). These works expound on the techniques of both Neidan and Waidan. Later, Qinhuo Chongguang was included in Daozang Jinghua (Essentials of the Taoist Canon).

Paul Peng is a Zhengyi Taoist priest from Longhu Mountain, Jiangxi — the ancestral home of the Celestial Masters' tradition. Ordained at 25 after a dream from the Celestial Master, he has practiced for 25 years under Master Zeng Guangliang. He is one of the curators of this store, which is officially authorized by Tianshi Fu. All items are consecrated at the temple by the resident priest team.
