Scripture of the Benevolent and Filial Son Repaying Kindness and Attaining the Dao, the author of which is unknown. It was probably composed during the Tang Dynasty.

The original number of scrolls and chapters of the text is unknown. One surviving Dunhuang manuscript (P2582) exists today, titled "Chapter Four of the Essential Principles of the Dao in the Scripture of the Benevolent and Filial Son Repaying Kindness and Attaining the Dao", which corresponds to the fourth scroll of the original text.

The scripture exhorts people in the world to be filial to their parents and repay their kindness, so as to cultivate and achieve the Dao. Its doctrines integrate the ideological concepts of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.

A one-scroll version of Dongxuan Lingbao Daoyao Jing (The Scripture of the Essential Principles of the Dao of the Numinous Treasure of the Cavernous Mystery) is included in the Text category of the Cavernous Mystery section of the Daozang (Taoist Canon). Its ideology is similar to that of the Dunhuang manuscript, and their content and wording are also identical.
