The Complete Explication of Dao De Jing
Prefaced by Shiyong in the 4th year of the Zhenglong reign period of Emperor Hailing of Jin (1159), the preface reveals that the actual author of this work is Xi Quhua, a friend of Shiyong. Consisting of two volumes, it is included in the Yujue (Jade Commentary) category of the Dongshen Section of the Daozang (Daoist Canon). This work annotates the Laozi, regarding nature as the fundamental essence of the Dao. It aims to clarify the principles of yin-yang operation and transformation, while also incorporating internal Taoist cultivation methods and terminology—a characteristic feature of scriptural exegesis in the Jin-Yuan Inner Alchemy Taoism.
