Cui Jiaochun lived during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty.

He became a Taoist Priest at Jiugong Mountain and later received precepts at Changchun Guan (Eternal Spring Temple). He successively served as the abbot and supervisor of Changchun Guan for forty years without showing any signs of slackness.

Changchun Guan Zhi (Records of Changchun Temple) states: Jiaochun was renowned for his Taoist attainments and moral integrity in his time. At the height of Changchun Guan’s prosperity, he focused on refining his nature and cultivating his physical form, concealing his talents and not seeking fame.

During the Daoguang era, the world was in turmoil, yet Baiyun Guan (White Cloud Temple) still relied on the two altars of abundant harvests and precept transmission.

In the seventh year of the Xianfeng reign (1857), the British and French allied forces invaded Beijing. Prince Gong of the Qing Dynasty personally invited Jiaochun to participate in peace negotiations and witness the alliance to conclude peace.
