The Primordial Heavenly Venerable’s Scripture on the Great Rain Dragon Kings

The author of this scripture is unknown, and it is believed to have originated during the Song or Yuan dynasties.

It comprises one scroll and is included in the Taoist Canon, under the category of "Original Texts" in the Cave Truth Division.

The scripture purports to be the words of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable and is used for praying for rain and dispelling disasters.

It contains the names of sixty-eight Dragon Kings, including the Pure Tranquility Dragon King, the Rain-sending Dragon King, and the Great Rain Dragon King. It states that if pious men and women uphold, recite, copy, expound, or listen to this scripture, they will be protected by heavenly deities. If one wishes to pray for rain, they may hold a vegetarian feast to entreat the deities or establish a Taoist ritual altar; the Heavenly Venerable will then command the Dragon Kings to send rain and dispel disasters.
